These delicious cookies are inspired by the story of Purim. According to the Old Testament, Haman, the evil adviser to the king of Persia, was plotting against the Jewish people. Queen Esther, who had previously hidden her Jewish heritage from the king, disclosed her secret and alerted him to Haman's plans. The king put a stop to Haman, and the Jewish people were saved. Hamantaschen, said by some to resemble evil Haman's three-cornered hat, are a traditional Purim treat. Ingredients

notes: Good flavor and pretty appearance, even though most of mine unfolded much of the way during baking. Maybe more water in pinching the corners would work better.
