A Bible Day
At the risk of making anyone out there feel guilty for not being spiritual enough (PLEASE don’t do that!!) I’m excited to write about our Bible day today.
My NIV study Bible split in half, right through the book of Jeremiah (poor weeping prophet!) so today I took the kids over to Mardel to select a replacement. (Yes, I looked into rebinding it–a little cost prohibitive). I was very excited to come home with a beautiful ESV study Bible, just begging to be read. When we arrived home after our errands I was happy to see a box on our doorstep containing the audio recording of the Bible I had ordered last week. After I explained to Nathan what it was, he wanted to hear some. He listened to the first 5 chapters of Genesis (Genesis 1:1 is always his first pick for Bible passages), then wanted to hear about when Jesus died. He listened through the last 3 or 4 chapters of Mark, then into the first 3 chapters of Luke before naptime. After nap he wanted more, so we settled on Noah and the ark, which he listened to twice. He’s addicted! And I am so excited!! We look forward to lots of listening time, individually and as a family–long car trips, Bible study for Than and I together after kids go to bed, a fresh taste for classes where Than is teaching–the possibilities are just beginning.
Thank you, God, for making Your Word so incredibly available to us in this time and place. Thank you for the people who treasure it, translate it, and sell it so we can be surrounded by it. Thank You for helping me be excited about it as You also spark a fire for it in my son. Help us to cherish it, treasure it, and take advantage of the blessing you offer through its ready availability to us.

Wow thats really neat. Providence is amazing. Is it straight reading or are there sound affects? No pictures either!!
Little ones have such open hearts and minds, such fertile soil for the truth. What a beautiful reminder of God’s tender care for the gardens of our hearts.
